The recent polls about Biden vs Trump. I think what people say to a pollster isn’t always predictive of how they’ll vote. Maybe in part because the sample isn’t representative of who votes, but also, not representative of people’s choices among concrete options.

Trump himself is poisonous in down ballot races. He herds his cult-base to candidates kind of like him, who just can’t pull off the MAGA-show like he can. I suspect we’ll see some of that effect next year as Trump endorses whack jobs which his cult then dutifully imposes on the electorate.

So, I wish someone like Beshear (moderate dem with demonstrated ability to appeal broadly) were the dem candidate, but I think things are looking a bit brighter for democracy this morning anyway.
